With a signature sound reflective of vast dance music knowledge, Bruise embraces a spectrum of house and techno influences from joyful euphoria to dark, driving heaters. And ‘The Dassy Slide’ does not disappoint: a basement ready early night affair: warm, deep and groove-laden, with an infectious vocal sample and 2-step inspired beats punctuated by mellow saxes that call to mind 90s NY garage.
‘The Dassy Slide’ showcases Bruise’s superfluous knack for creating an absorbing dancefloor moment whether it’s warm-up, or in ‘Brass Tack’s’ case, peak time. Expert range that is set to reveal itself further over the course of future record bag essential ‘EP2’.

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
